Karan Johar will be calling the shots for period saga Takht and we are excited to watch him work his magic with the camera. And after a short break in New York, the filmmaker has returned to his base in Mumbai to start preparations for the Mughal drama. With preparations on in full swing at the Dharma office, Karan Johar’s video zoomed into the poster of Takht, which revealed the release date as December 2020.
Check out the videos below:
Takht boasts of an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Recent buzz suggested that the film has been shelved, but going by the excitement at Dharma office, we are assured that Takht is very much in the making. Speaking about the preparations, a source had informed Pinkvilla, “The team is currently working vigorously to get the research material and everything in place. There’s a separate room in Dharma, where they brainstorm and look out for pictures to set up the scenario from the Mughal era, that the film is based on. How the houses were, how the warfare looked like – all of it is being properly looked upon. A huge set will be built in Mumbai and work on that will also begin soon. As of now, Takht will roll out by the end of 2019 or early next year around January 2020.”
Interestingly, December 2020 is an exciting month for Bollywood. Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha is scheduled for Christmas next year. The actor had announced this film on his birthday this year and it is an official remake of Oscar-winning Hollywood film Forrest Gump. Also, Luv Ranjan has booked Christmas 2020 for his next venture starring Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor in the lead.
