Eamonn Holmes makes shocking confession over tying shoe laces

Eamonn Holmes has confessed he still doesn’t know how to tie his shoelaces.

The presenter, 61, joked that his mother is to blame for the faux pas and he still can’t get around how to tackle the laces on his shoes, so he simply never wears them.

Laced shoes, that is. Not shoes altogether.

Eamonn made the revelation while replying to a Twitter thread started by ITN’s Nicola Kearny. She shared a snap of her cack-handed laces and tweeted: ‘As a “functioning” adult, what’s something you should know how to do but never learnt. Mine is shoelaces.’

Turns out her and Eamonn are in the same boat, as he replied: ‘Shoelaces and swimming.’

Eamonn then revealed that he now only wears ‘slip-on’ shoes as a result of his lack of lace-tying skills. He added: ‘As a result I only wear slip ons. True.’

The TV star joked: ‘Irish Mammies have a lot to answer for …. doing everything for their Sons in particular.’

Eamonn wasn’t alone as many more fans revealed that they too have trouble when it comes to forming perfect knots to secure their shoes on their feet.

His wild confession comes after fans saw Eamonn and wife Ruth Langsford present This Morning for the final time on a Friday, just before Christmas.

The couple usually present the show’s Friday broadcast, but are now being replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary. Eamonn and Ruth will instead present This Morning during the key holidays.

Eamonn – who has urged viewers to be ‘nice and lovely’ to his and Ruth’s successors – shared a heartfelt video following his final Friday shift and thanked fans for all their support.

He said: ‘Just want to say something to you all from the bottom of my heart, and that is: thank you. Ruth and I have been absolutely overwhelmed yesterday and today by the amount of messages and we’ve been replying on

Jokingly telling fans to stop sending so many messages, Eamonn teased: ‘It is Christmas time, mistletoe and wine, we’ve all got things to do. So thank you. Get on with your lives, we certainly intend to get on with ours.’

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield present This Morning from Monday to Thursday.
