Soap star Louisa Lytton is engaged to be married after t he EastEnders star was proposed to by boyfriend Ben Bhanvra during a romantic getaway to the Maldives.

Ben took Louisa to the Maldives as a 30th birthday present and got down on one knee in a surprise proposal.

However, things didn't go to plan when they were interrupted by a cleaner.

Speaking exclusively to OK! magazine, Ben said: “I took Louisa to a quiet part of the island where I knew no one else would be around.

“I told her I wanted to fly my drone to get some aerial pictures of the island, although really I wanted it to capture a video of the moment I proposed.

“As soon as I got it up in the air and reached to get the ring from the bag a cleaner walked past and was so mesmerised by the drone he was just stood next to us staring at it for ages.

"I had to wait for him to leave. The cleaner finally disappeared so I got a speaker out of my bag that I was going to use to play a song for when I proposed but the Wi-Fi signal was bad so I couldn’t get it to play.

“By this point I was so frustrated that I just grabbed the ring and got down on one knee!’

Louisa was shocked by the proposal and burst into tears upon seeing Ben pull out the ring.

“My life has done a complete 180”, she said. “If you told me five years ago I’d have a stable job working on a show I love and engaged, I would never have believed you.

“When I saw him on one knee I started crying like a baby. I was so excited but my brain went into overdrive and I started freaking out. I had no idea he was going to propose.”

Now that Ben’s popped the question the happy couple are planning on getting married in America.

Louisa added: “We’re hoping to get married in summer 2021 near York, which is where Ben is from. We want to buy a house together before we’re married, so we’re hoping to get that done by the end of this year.

“I want at least two children and Ben wants three so we’ll have to get cracking pretty soon after the wedding! I can’t wait to have babies, I’m very maternal so it’s been my dream for a long time to be a mum.’
