Katie Price's family are reportedly terrified for her wellbeing after the glamour model and mum-of-five sensationally admitted she'd rather be "put in prison" that attend her bankruptcy court hearing next month.
"Katie isn’t comprehending the severity of what’s coming – or how long she could actually be jailed for," a source exclusively told OK! this week.
They also claim that Katie's 71-year-old mother Amy Price is dreading the consequences of her daughter's controversial statement.
"Amy has warned her that she should be eating humble pie to avoid jail, not serving it. She’s also warned Katie about the danger of a massive public backlash if she treats jail like a game, but she isn’t getting through to her.
"Katie thinks people will be behind her."
Speaking on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breaker podcast last week, Katie, 45, told listeners: "I’ve been to court more times than I’ve had hot dinners lately. I’m not scared of court anymore."
The ex-I'm A Celeb star – who is set to be questioned about her £3.2 million debts in September – added: "I have said, ‘Can’t you just put me in prison just to cover it all? Just to be done with it’. I’m fed up with the reminders and why I’m in court.
"I genuinely don’t care if I go to prison because it’s done then. If they keep threatening me, just do it."
Katie would be leaving behind her five children – Harvey, 21, from her relationship with ex-footballer Dwight York, Junior, 18, and Princess, 16, with former husband Peter Andre, and Bunny, nine, and 10-year-old Jett, with her third husband, Kieran Hayler – if she goes to jail.
Our source adds a worried Amy has warned her daughter – who has already narrowly avoided prison for drink-driving and breaching a restraining order – to take the proceedings seriously this time around.
But Katie is said to believe that a stint in jail will relaunch her career, with our source claiming: "She believes it’ll be her route to book deals, behind bars-style documentaries, television interviews.
"Amy thinks Katie is being delusional about coming out of a bankruptcy sentence with more money than she went in with," they say.
