Mike Tindall has made a cheeky quip about his wife Zara Tindall.
In a clip from his The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast which he hosts with fellow former rugby union player, he tells the story of meeting his future grandmother-in-law.
During an episode of the Grassroots series, the 44-year-old visits his old school, Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Yorkshire, he was amused when he stumbled across a photo of the late queen.
âOver here is something I do remember very well,â he laughed as he looked at the picture.
The school was founded by Queen Elizabeth I and was visited by Queen Elizabeth II on itâs 400th anniversary in 1991.
Reminiscing, Mike said: âQueen Elizabeth came when I was 13 years old; think I met her in biology.â
Then he joked: âNot entirely sure whether I said to her then that I would marry Zara, but it mightâve come out of my mouth. Iâm not really sure.â
Mike met Zara in 2003 while out in Australia, where he won the Rugby World Cup as part of that yearâs squad.
After eight years together, they tied the knot at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, a few months after Prince William and Kate married.
Since then, the pair have welcomed three children: Mia, nine, Lena, four, and Lucas, two.
Ever the joker, the former sportsman recently wished Zara a happy anniversary and compared them to Barbie and Ken.
Sharing a picture of himself and his wife as cartoon Mattel-inspired dolls with Mike wearing a beige suit and Zara donning a pink top and black leggings, he wrote: âThanks for the messages, itâs been a great 12 years. Feel we are getting younger!!! [crying laughing emoji] #zarbieandTenâ.
People took to the comments to share their congratulations.
One person said: âhilarious! How on earth did you do that?! Happy Anniversary to you both xxxâ.
A second wrote: 12 years? Wow it only seems like yesterday you two was introduced. Love at first sightâ.
A third penned: âThis is Superb! Happy Anniversary to you bothâ, and another remarked: âOmg they actually look like you bothâ
His wife has previously opened up about her mother, Princess Anne, alongside her brother Peter and revealed the trait that they find most âannoyingâ about her.
The 42-year-old explained: âShe's like a sponge, it's unbelievable, the information that's stored in her brain. It's incredible. Quite annoying, as well.â
Her brother agreed saying: âIt is quite annoying, yes.â
