It helps to know the right people. And Oprah Winfrey knows everyone, so it's not surprising that the legendary host snagged an interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — their first since announcing that they're expecting a second child together. People reports that Winfrey will be hosting a 90-minute primetime special with Harry and Meghan set to air on CBS on March 7, 2021.
"Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a Royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure," CBS said in a statement. "Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family."
Winfrey isn't just a close friend. She's also literally close to the couple, since Meghan and Harry moved to Montecito, California, last year. And the CBS interview isn't the only way that Oprah is teaming up with the Sussexes. She's working with Harry on a mental health docuseries for Apple TV+, though that venture doesn't have an air date on the calendar just yet. Harry noted that the show would cover the "human spirit fighting back from the darkest places."
"When I did your podcast two years ago the response made me realize what an impact sharing my story could have, and what an impact other stories can have for so many who are suffering silently," Harry told journalist Bryony Gordon about the series. "If the viewers can relate to the pain and perhaps the experience, then it could save lives, as we will focus on prevention and positive outcomes."
