Phillip Schofield reveals ‘pinch me moment’ in solo project as he addresses future move

Phillip Schofield recommends his red wine for a barbecue

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield, 58, has released his latest wine Rosato Verona to join his successful Italian craft bag-in-box range. Hinting there could be more, he said: “Who knows what the future may bring for me and my wine adventure?”

He added: “I have really enjoyed being so involved within the wine-making process and working alongside the team at When in Rome.

“For me, it’s been a dream come true that I have been fortunate enough to develop my wine collection and I love that everyone enjoys the wine as much as I do.

“It has been a pinch yourself moment.”

Earlier this year, Phillip joined the wine industry’s fight to reduce carbon emissions with When in Rome and launched organic red Nero di Troia and award-winning white Falanghina.

On why he decided to get involved, the host added: “It all started when I wanted to find the perfect pale, crisp and dry Rose, which is surprisingly hard to find in Italy!

“After tasting When in Rome’s wine, I simply fell in love with the taste and quality.

“I knew I had to partner with this brand as I was also impressed with their credentials and eco-friendly packaging.

“The process of finding the perfect partnership took a long time but I am convinced the end result has been worth the wait.”

The host launched his self-chosen white and red wines, which were ethically sourced from independent Italian vineyards, in April.

Phillip previously told fans he had never been “so passionate” about a product.

The wines, sold in Waitrose, received mixed reviews from tasters online.

In comments about his red wine, one user wrote: “A smooth delicious wine which really surprised me. I’ll definitely be buying again.”

“A very enjoyable wine, great value for money, highly recommend,” a further review read.

However another described the red wine as an “awful product”.

Despite some bad reviews, the wine has been rated 3.7 out of five stars on the website.

Phillip’s white wine had also received mixed reviews, with an overall score of 2.7 out of five stars.

Elsewhere, Phillip returned to This Morning following a break for the festive period yesterday.

The presenter welcomed back viewers with stand-in host Rochelle Humes as he addressed why his usual co-host Holly Willoughby was absent from the show.

“Happy New Year, welcome to the very first This Morning of the year,” the father-of-two began as he opened the show.

“Holly is spending a couple of extra days with the family so Rochelle is here,” he added.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
