She blasted the judge for getting it “wrong” in her world-famous libel case which saw her lose against rival WAG Coleen Rooney in July, and now Rebekah Vardy has spoken out once again maintaining her innocence.
In a new two-part documentary Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial, out later this month on Discovery+, Rebekah Vardy insists she did not sell “false” stories about Coleen Rooney to a national newspaper.
The mum-of-four also brands Coleen’s legal team “desperate” for bringing up her 2001 fling with Peter Andre in the courtroom and says she is still friends with her former manager, Caroline Watt, despite admitting in court s he could have been the source of the leaks.
In the documentary, Rebekah, 40, defiantly denies having anything to do with the leaking of the stories, which Coleen – dubbed Wagatha Christie for her detective skills – had planted on her private Instagram in an attempt to uncover who was betraying her.
She says, “I had no way anything to do with that story getting into The Sun.”
During the trial, Coleen’s barrister David Sherborne asked Rebekah if she respected other people’s privacy, which she confirmed she does.
He then showed the court an interview she gave to the News Of The World in 2004, in which she detailed an alleged sexual encounter with singer Pete.
She unfavourably described him as “hung like a small chipolata” and said the sex lasted “a few minutes”.
In the documentary, Rebekah, who is married to Leicester City footballer Jamie Vardy, claims the move by David was to create a “narrative bias”.
The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star fumes: “Bringing up something someone’s done 20 years ago is desperate.
"I was in a really difficult relationship at the time when that story came out, and I was forced into doing something I really didn’t want to do. I regret that ever since.”
She added, “I knew what David Sherborne was trying to do. He was trying to paint a picture which was essentially going to create this narrative bias to try and make me look like that sort of person.”
Also during the documentary, Rebekah says her former manager of seven years, Caroline, who found herself at the centre of the drama, will always be her friend.
According to lawyers, after Coleen, 36, publicly complained that someone was betraying her, Caroline sent a message to Rebekah saying, “It wasn’t someone she trusted. It was me.”
Caroline also drew attention after her mobile phone filled with evidence fell into the North Sea.
Caroline did not give evidence in court after a psychiatrist ruled she was unfit to appear.
Rebecca reveals in the documentary, “Not in a million years did I think that Caroline had anything to hide whatsoever or that she had anything to hide from the court. It never, ever crossed my mind.
"Caroline’s still my friend. She’ll always be my friend, and I’m just deeply concerned and I’m still concerned, as I was when she first started telling us about her mental wellbeing, about where she is with that.”
Rebekah also detailed in the documentary the impact of the case on her family, saying, “Social media is the root of all evil. At that point [during the trial], it ruined my life. My kids were being bullied.
"I found it really difficult. I was scared to leave the house. I had paparazzi parked outside my house that would follow me, turn their car around and drive at me down the same side of the road as me.
“I remember one journalist saying, ‘I won’t leave her alone until I’ve got the picture I want.’ That’s not OK.”
Meanwhile, Coleen has reportedly sold the rights to the Wagatha Christie story to Disney+ in a multi-million pound documentary series deal, where she will tell her side of the story.
Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial is available to stream on Discovery+ from 19 November.
