Rebekah Vardy texted Coleen Rooney ‘I’d be chomping’ over leak, court hears

Rebekah Vardy messaged Coleen Rooney to express her sympathy and outrage that stories about her were being leaked to the press, a court heard on Thursday.

Coleen, 36, accused Rebekah's Instagram account of being linked to leaks about her private life in October 2019. Rebekah, 40, vehemently denies the allegation and is now suing for libel, with the case being heard at London's High Court.

On day three of the Wagatha Christie trial, Rebekah continued giving evidence and the court heard after Rooney revealed her anguish at one leak, her fellow WAG messaged with: "That's so bad. I would be chomping if it was me. Not on at all.

"You don't think the paper has hacked your account do you?''

Coleen's barrister David Sherborne asked: "That is totally disingenuous, isn't it?''

Rebekah replied: "No.''

The mum-of-four also urged Coleen to go through her following on her private Instagram account to see if any followers had links to journalists, the court heard.

A message read: "Have you been through your followers? Anyone with any celeb mag links."

Mr Sherborne also asked Rebekah about a picture Coleen posted on her private Instagram account showing she had crashed her Honda 4×4 in Washington DC.

The photo showed damage to one side of the car and Rooney captioned it: "RIP half a Honda.''

Shortly afterwards a story appeared in the same newspaper about the crash.

Two days before the article was published Rebekah swapped messages about it with her agent Caroline Watt, who asked: "Am I imagining this or did you say yesterday that Coleen had crashed her Honda?''

Rebekah replied: "She defo has.''

Mr Sherborne said the day before the message exchange, the two women had attended the National Television Awards where they were guests in the box of the newspaper an article about the car appeared in.

Rebekah confirmed this but denied discussing Coleen's car picture with a journalist at the event.

The trial continues.
