Strictly Come Dancing’s Katie McGlynn ‘thought dancing would be easier’

Katie McGlynn found herself competing in her first dance-off on Strictly Come Dancing with her professional dance partner Gorka Marquez against Nina Wadia and pro Neil Jones last weekend.

Since EastEnders icon Nina became the first celebrity to leave the 2021 series, a source has told OK! Katie, 28, "wasn't happy" to be in the first dance-off.

"She’s a nice girl but quite demanding," a source told OK!. "She doesn’t want to lose and really wasn’t happy about being in the dance off. Gorka is very kind and nice and she’s getting very frustrated.

"She thought it would be easier than this and Gorka is a really hard worker."

The source went on to explain how Gorka, 31, doesn't want to be without a celebrity partner again, adding that the pair will be working hard to improve for this weekend's performance.

"He needs this, he didn’t have a celebrity partner in 2019 and he doesn’t want that to happen again so he’s cracking the whip because he needs her to improve," the source shared.

"She’s got a busy schedule but needs to put the hours in, Gorka feels like he can’t afford to go out in the early stages after being put back as a main dancer."

The source continued: "He needs her to put the effort in and not have any diva strops.

"She thinks he’s working her too hard and he doesn’t think she’s working hard enough.

The source claims: "There’s also a bit of her thinking she’s better than she is.

"They don’t have chemistry and if you don’t have that there’s nothing you can do about it."

OK! have contacted Gorka and Katie's representatives for comment.

This comes after Gorka set the record straight on claims he and Katie weren't "getting on" and weren't connecting as a pair.

Shortly after the dreaded dance off, Gorka posted on his Instagram proving his friendship and loyalty to Katie: "Well… that was intense.

"Not the best feeling to be in the Dance off but I couldn’t be prouder of you Katie McGlynn and how you gave your everything on that floor.

"Sorry to see Neil Jones and Nina Wadia leave they had so much to give to the show…"

He added: "Thank you to everybody who voted and supported us it means the world. We’ll keep working hard and giving our best."

"And to those who think that we aren’t getting on keep thinking it."
