Strictly’s Emma Weymouth says she was ill and injured during final performances

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Viscountess Emma Weymouth has revealed she was performing with a broken foot, a pulled muscle and an upset stomach on the night of her exit.

The socialite, 33, got the boot last week in a controversial exit, with many fans claiming BBC presenter Mike Bushell should have gone home instead.

Emma has now opened up about her final dance, a Samba, which left her in the bottom two, and admitted she was struggling with a number of medical conditions during the show.

During an interview with Daily Mail , the former contestant revealed she suffered from a broken bone, a pulled muscle and a terrible stomach ache while battling to win the famous Glitterball trophy.

She said: "There's no time to recover.

"A bone in my foot dropped out of place from the jive. That was agony."

The Viscountess also confessed to pulling a "rib muscle" while dancing the samba while she was also struggling with symptoms of an upset stomach.

She said: "I had some sort of inflammation [in my ribs] and the most terrible stomach ache."

"I couldn't eat all day before what turned out to be our last dance but, obviously, you have to go and perform."

However, Emma appeared grateful to have only suffered minor ailments as she spoke about rest of the cast.

She said: "Of course, this is nothing compared to what happened to poor Will."

This year's series of Strictly has sparked speculation there is a new type of Strictly curse.

The series has been marred by horror falls, injuries, and sicknesses, which have affected the celebrity line-up and judges, as well as the professional dancers.

In previous years, the Strictly curse has referred to relationships being split up as contestants fall in love with their dance partner.

But this time around, it's the scary number of contestants who have suffered illnesses, freak accidents, and horror injuries.

Will Bayley was forced to quit the show after sustaining an agonising knee injury.

Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing was supposed to be appearing on the show, but he tore a muscle in his foot during the taping of the launch show, and was too injured to continue.

During her performance with Mike Bushell, professional dancer Katya Jones suffered a dramatic backwards fall while finishing her dance, which she just about managed to style out.

Professional dancer Neil Jones then suffered a knee injury which rendered him unable to perform, and Kevin Clifton stepped in last minute to partner with Alex Scott.

Dev Griffin's professional partner Dianne Buswell also suffered a head injury after a fall, and was rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile head judge Shirley Ballas suddenly fell ill and suffered a shock health scare.

She posted a snap of herself connected a drip, writing: “Feeling under the weather as a result of a tough week.”
