Shane MacGowan’s wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, has updated fans again on her husband’s current condition.
In December 2022, The Pogues singer was diagnosed with viral encephalitis – an inflammation of the brain – and has since been in and out of hospital battling his health.
Victoria, 57, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday to deliver a message from Shane, 65.
She wrote: “Shane is praying for peace and love for everyone in the world @ShaneMacGowan @poguesofficial”.
Attached to her social media sentiment was a picture of the ‘Fairytale of New York’ singer, who was wearing a hospital gown and smiling into the camera.

A fourth posted: “Hope you get well soon Shane. Your music touches us so deeply.”
Victoria’s latest post comes after she discussed the “pretty scary” challenge of dealing with Shane’s health via Instagram.
The author wrote: “A lot of the time life goes on as normal but sometimes things happen to shake things up and not necessarily in ways that you want!
“We have had some pretty scary health challenges in our family recently and it has been showing me that the idea of just trusting and going with the flow is not easy!!!”
She went on to say that when a “loved one is in danger of dying” it’s natural to “totally freak out and imagine the worst” but said feeling “all of the fear” is the “real meaning of going with the flow”.
After praising the doctors and nurses who are currently looking after Shane, Victoria wrote: “Love and gratitude for so many prayers and so much support for @shanemacgowanofficial”.
Shane has been battling with health-related issues for some time, including being hospitalised over Christmas 2022 with encephalitis.
According to Mayo Clinic, the rare condition can have several causes, including bacterial infections and insect bites.
In some cases, encephalitis can be life-threatening and those infected often exhibit flu-like symptoms such as fevers, headaches and fatigue.
More severe symptoms can also follow, including seizures, irregular movements and muscle weakness.
