The Touching Accessory Meghan Markle Wore During Her Interview With Oprah

Prince Harry and Prince William both know how to pay tribute to their mother, and their wives have certainly shared in their enthusiasm to pay homage to the late Princess. The headline-making interview between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Oprah is set to air this weekend on CBS with a recent preview being released to the public.

According to People, the Duchess of Sussex kept her mother-in-law close during her first public interview since the couple officially stepped down from their roles in the British royal family. Markle dons the Princess’ bracelet that Prince Harry used to design his wife’s engagement ring. The outlet reports that the ring has two stones from the bracelet to serve as side stones for the sparkler. While speaking about the intense public scrutiny and glaring presence of the press, the duo wanted to have the late Princess close to them as they revealed their struggles.

Meghan Markle’s other accessories include an Armani dress with an embroidered lotus flower on the front along with Birks earrings and a necklace from British designer Pippa Small. For the tell-all interview, the two needed all of the support they could get as they divulged the real story behind the public fallout. The couple doesn’t shy away from Princess Diana comparisons either, with Harry saying in the preview, “You know, for me, I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you with my wife by my side because I can’t begin to imagine what it must’ve been like for [my mother] going through this process by herself all those years ago.”

Meghan Markle displayed various symbols in her interview

Never a couple to steer clear of symbolism, the Sussexes have also used other attributes of their announcements and public-facing outings to convey various messages. For instance, their recent pregnancy announcement featured the two of them flanked by lush trees, signifying their rebirth and fertility. Plus, Prince Harry’s wrist showed off a unique piece of bling as well, Marie Claire reports.

As seen in other instances, the Duke’s silver bracelet may be another tribute to his mother. The outlet reports that Prince Harry is thought to have purchased his first silver bracelet in 1997 in Africa, shortly after the death of Princess Diana. “I first came in 1997, straight after my mum died,” he once told the outlet. “My dad told my brother and me to pack our bags — we were going to Africa to get away from it all. My brother and I were brought up outdoors. We appreciate the countryside; we appreciate nature and everything about it. But it became more.”

Indeed, the center stone in Markle’s engagement ring comes from Botswana, a country close to the Prince’s heart that he’s visited throughout the years. With so much media attention and the royal family to appease, the two certainly don’t have an easy task ahead of them. The interview will represent the first time that the couple have done such an intimate reveal since their engagement in 2017. Hopefully, the symbols and trinkets the Sussexes have with them provide the support they need.
