On the occasion of International Day of Yoga on Friday, the police organised an integrated event with ‘YUVA’ at Thyagraj Stadium.
The event witnessed 2,600 participants, including 2,000 policemen from various districts and units.
The YUVA — a skill development programme under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) — was started two years ago by the Delhi Police. Commissioner of Delhi Police Amulya Patnaik along with senior officers performed Yoga at the event.
The Commissioner underlined the importance of Yoga in day-to-day working as it helps keep the mind calm. “Lifestyle of a policeman is full of stress. We want to spread more awareness about Yoga in our department as it helps in managing stress so that we can serve the people and perform duties even better,” said Mr. Patnaik.
“Last year also, we celebrated Yoga Day. Yoga programmes are conducted throughout the year at police station, district and the academy level several times as it proves to be very helpful in the life of police personnel,” he added.
Under YUVA, the police have provided skill training to around 7,000 children and youth to steer them towards the mainstream of society.
