Details of over 6,000 properties now on govt. portal

Union Minister Hardeep Puri had launched e-Dharti portal on March 7

From ownership to pending court cases regarding it, details of over 6,000 properties in Delhi have been uploaded on the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry’s e-Dharti portal since its launch in March, officials said on Monday.

The portal, launched on March 7 by Minister Hardeep Puri, had validated details of 6,348 properties as of Monday, a Ministry official said.

The portal of the Land and Development Office (L&DO) is meant to be used for online application for conversion from leasehold to freehold, substitution of names of legal heirs and mutation in the name of purchaser etc., according to a government statement on the day of the launch. The properties under L&DO include institutional, commercial and residential plots.

The Ministry official said the L&DO has about 65,000 properties over New Delhi, Central Delhi and South Delhi districts, with the target of March 2020.

Increased transparency

The official, however, said the project could be completed before the deadline. Along with offering the online application process, the portal has also increased transparency when it comes to ownership of the properties and legal cases, the official added.

The portal includes Geographic Information System mapping of all 65,000 properties under the L&DO, which can then check the status of the vacant properties to see if there is any encroachment or not.
