It was a craze for Modi in 2014, now, it’s a wave: Kanna

‘People in State for change of guard’

As almost all exit poll surveys predicted that the BJP will draw a blank in Andhra Pradesh, its State president Kanna Lakshminarayana hinted that those calculations might be true, claiming that the party achieved its target which was to ‘establish its symbol in the 2019 elections’.

“It is clear from my feedback that the people have decided to give one vote for Narendra Modi and the other for Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy,” he commented, suggesting that the desire for change was real.

Speaking to The Hindu on Monday, Mr. Lakshminarayana said the BJP faced a vituperative campaign unleashed by the TDP ever since the alliance broke just about a year ago. Besides, the TDP and the YSR Congress Party flexed their financial muscle like never before and tarnished the BJP’s image in the run-up to elections.

On the possible outcome of elections at Centre, Mr. Lakshminarayana said he was not at all excited with the exit polls as he has been saying from the beginning that the BJP-led NDA coalition would romp home with a tally exceeding 300. “In 2014, there was a craze for Modi, now there is a wave”, he quipped.
