Daughter of daily wage electrician, Manali Gupta topped the Class 12th arts examination with 87.4% marks in aggregate, the results for which were declared by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Tuesday.
Manali obtained 437 marks in total out of 500 including 75 in English, 89 in Hindi, 90 in History, 92 in Geography and 91 in Economics.
Resident of station road in Patratu under Ramgarh district, Manali wants to become an IAS. “Since early age, I have a dream to become an IAS. This is why, I took arts after completion of matriculation,” she said.
Manali had obtained 86% marks in aggregate in matriculation (Class 10 exam). Her favourite subject is Geography and she wants to pursue graduation with the subject.
Student of SS Model +2 High School, Patratu, she had hoped for a good marks in the examination. “I had worked very hard. So, I had expectation of good marks,” she said.
Giving credit for her success to parents, she said, “My parents laboured hard for my education. I would also like to give credit of my success to my teachers in school, as it was not possible without them.”
Principal of her school, Pramod Prakash Singh said, “She has been bright student since beginning. We have lots of hope from her. She would achieve something big in her life.”
Singh said despite belonging to poor family, she continued her education and has set an example in the society.
“Manali’s father Deepak Kumar Gupta is an electrician, who works on daily wage. He gets money only the day he gets work,” the school principal said.
Manali has two sisters and a brother. Apart from study, she loves reading and walking.
