Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas has said he is "struggling" and "in pain" after being diagnosed with the chronic illness Rheumatoid Arthritis.<\/p>\n

The 35 year old dad of two \u2013 who's also been in Emmerdale and is set to take part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing in just a couple of weeks' time \u2013 shared a shirtless snap of himself on Instagram, as he spoke out about his condition on Sunday, 3 September.<\/p>\n

"A very rare sight \u2026 me with my top off!" he captioned the picture, adding: "But I need to get comfortable feeling uncomfortable! Am not in the best shape of my life but,I could be worse."<\/p>\n

Adam, who received the devastating diagnosis of the illness the day before his birthday last month, continued: "This year has been tough there\u2019s no doubt about that\u2026 but I\u2019ve just got to stay focused now! I\u2019m still struggling and the pain is still there but I\u2019m putting on a brave face I\u2019ve got to stay strong!!<\/p>\n

"Swimming helps me so much with my arthritis, i mean as much as it kills me getting my top off and going for a swim, I know it\u2019s helping me and I know it\u2019s also helping me deal with the issues I\u2019ve got with me and my body. Which is a good thing! <\/p>\n

"Got a feeling am going to get a lot more out of the next few months than I bargained for l!!"<\/p>\n

Adam had previously shared the news on his Instagram, as he posted a pic of himself with his wife, Caroline, and their two children, son Teddy and daughter, Elsie-Rose.<\/p>\n

Speaking then about how the pain affected him, he said: "It started with my knees and then traveled to my wrists, fingers and now ankles and toes. I never knew what was happening and finally after several blood tests and back and forth to doctors and hospitals, I\u2019ve been diagnosed with rheumatoid Arthritis!"<\/p>\n

Adam previously defended himself over rumours of a \u201cfix\u201d on Strictly, with him being foreced to deny he has an unfair advantage.<\/p>\n

The actor faced backlash after it emerged that his wife Caroline is a trained dancer who owns her own dance school.<\/p>\n

Caroline, 32, founded the dance school, ABCD Dance in Altrincham, in 2021.<\/p>\n

Again taking to Instagram, Adam said: \u201cI do not know what I have gotten myself into as I cannot dance to save my life as you'll probably find out sooner or later. But you know what, I have been wanting to do this show for so many years now and I cannot believe it is finally happening.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
