While she appeared in a beautiful, shimmering gown with the torso cut out and a glamorous bra, the focus of her look was really on her clutch &#8212; because it featured a photo of her and the <em>Dilemma<\/em> rapper from 20 years ago!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: OMG! WATCH Taylor Swift&#8217;s Reaction To *NSYNC At The VMAs!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you didn\u2019t know, the two icons were in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2003 to 2013, at which point they officially ended things. However, back in May of this year, an insider told <em>Entertainment Tonight<\/em> that the two were \u201cback together\u201d and \u201cvery happy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ashanti explained her fashion statement to <em>E! News<\/em> at the Tuesday night music event:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just thought it was cute. Not a huge deal, but this is the picture we took 20 years ago at the VMAs in \u201803. So I said, \u2018Eh, this might be cute.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/perezhilton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/ashanti-mtv-vmas-2023-nelly-clutch.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Aww! Full circle moment! It wasn&#8217;t anything that was like, I don&#8217;t think, planned. I think we both was pretty much doing what we do.
