Christina Aguilera on Britney Spears’ memoir

Britney Spears’ seemingly erratic behavior on Instagram has been a cause for concern, and some conspiracy theories, for fans ever since the starlet was freed from her conservatorship in late 2021.

The 41-year-old’s Instagram page, which she has cryptically titled Maria River Red, is often filled with clips of the pop star dancing in her house, showing off raunchy pieces of her wardrobe or odd shares and crossposts from other Instagram accounts.

The Grammy award winner also went through a phase last summer of sharing naked photos of herself, covering the bare minimum with emoji stickers or her hands, which left fans reeling as they questioned how her two teenage sons felt about seeing their mother putting herself on the internet like that.

However, in a new excerpt from her highly anticipated memoir, The Woman In Me, the Hollywood star finally explained why she has developed a penchant for raunchy and often controversial Instagram posts.

She candidly revealed that the simple act of taking the photos and videos brings her joy as it’s a newfound freedom she hadn’t been able to exercise before.

Britney also revealed that she sees it somewhat like an act of ownership in reclaiming her body after being photographed by countless reporters, paparazzi and fans across her three decades of stardom.

According to the Daily Mail, Britney writes in her upcoming book: “I know that a lot of people don’t understand why I love taking pictures of myself naked or in new dresses.

“But I think if they’d been photographed by other people thousands of times, prodded and posed for other people’s approval, they’d understand that I get a lot of joy from posing the way I feel sexy and taking my own picture.”

The revelation about her choice of posts comes after the pop star deleted and then reactivated her Instagram page over the weekend.
