Coleen and Wayne Rooney celebrated their eldest son Kai's birthday this week.

Posing for a family photo with a massive '14' stood in the background amongst two balloon clusters, the 37-year-old mum-of-four informed her Instagram fans that they'd all donned matching pyjamas in aid of the local Alder Hey Children's Hospital, which has collaborated with retailer Matalan for the last 10 years.

"Happy 14th Birthday to our @kairooney.10. Love you loads," she wrote as the caption.

"Loved our family night in our #TogetherforAlderHey pyjamas. There’s still time to get yours at @shopmatalan and help an amazing cause @alderhey."

Their three other sons are Klay, Kit and Cass.

This comes after the release of the Disney+ docuseries Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, detailing the court battle between herself and Rebekah Vardy – wife of Wayne's ex-football teammate Jamie Vardy.

Speaking in the aftermath, the Liverpudlian exclusively told OK!: "It was hard. The interviews got emotional and it brought up memories. It was a really difficult time that I went through and my family went through it with me as well.

"During the [court] case, even though I was physically there looking after my children, mentally I just wasn’t there."

Coleen harbours hopes that once the hype around her documentary has cooled off, the family can look forward to a fresh start.

“A massive cloud had been lifted. Reflecting back when we were filming did bring up those difficult times, but now it’s all over, so we can celebrate. Maybe once this year has ended, that will draw a line under it, once it’s [the documentary] out and people have seen it. I think into the New Year – that will be a good time to say bye to it," she added.

However, with the imminent publication of her autobiography, My Account, on the horizon – it hits shelves on Thursday, November 9 – a source close to the Rooneys claims that Wayne, 38, has mixed feelings regarding the prospect of his wife opening up old wounds again.

"They’re in a good place now and it’s widely known they have been through a difficult time in the past. Their marriage has been under immense strain even in recent times, but they have come out stronger," the source revealed to OK!

"Whenever his infidelities are mentioned, understandably people start talking about it, which leads to lots of unkind comments online. He would rather leave it in the past.

"The last thing Wayne wants is to get flak from the guys at work over his personal life. Footballers love banter and, as the boss, he doesn’t want to be at the centre of any jokes. This book will obviously bring back bad memories and open up old wounds, and Wayne isn’t keen on more marriage bombshells being talked about."

In a recent interview with British Vogue, Coleen admitted that that their 15-year marriage had been a "battle at times", but they'd "never backed away from it".
