Golden Globes Top 5 Snubs &amp; Surprises!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<strong>Golden Globe<\/strong> nominations were announced Monday morning, and they were &#8212; for the most part &#8212; a pleasant surprise!\u00a0<em>Barbie<\/em> rightfully got tons of love, as did its release date mate <em>Oppenheimer<\/em>, there were multiple female directors nominated, stuff was mostly in the right category&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But there were a few big surprises&#8230; and yes, as usual a couple big snubs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Video: Jamie Foxx Talks Medical Scare In Award Show Speech<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ch-ch-check out our shortlist for Globes hits and misses (below)!<\/p>\n<p>Contents <span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Taylor Swift &#8212; Surprise!<\/h2>\n<p><iframe class=\"lazyload\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film Official Trailer\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KudedLV0tP0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Who would have thought\u00a0<strong>Taylor Swift<\/strong> would be getting a\u00a0Golden Globe nomination in a year she didn&#8217;t do any acting or writing songs for movies?? But the Taylor dominance continues, thanks to the Globes&#8217; new category,\u00a0<strong>Cinematic and Box Office Achievement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an award specifically for big hits, with movies qualifying by earning at least $150 mil global, $100 mil domestic. It&#8217;s something a couple awards shows have flirted with, but it never seems to work out. The\u00a0<strong>Oscars<\/strong> infamously announced a similar award in 2018 called &#8220;Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film.&#8221; There was such a backlash they shelved the idea indefinitely.\u00a0We guess there are still plenty of folks in the industry who don&#8217;t think movies should get an award just for being financially successful&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media4.giphy.com\/media\/3oEdv7Ob55JGHS3Ces\/giphy.gif\"><\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s cool to see Taylor get the nod for\u00a0<em>The Eras Tour Movie<\/em> &#8212; though it&#8217;s a stacked category, as she&#8217;s up against John Wick, Ethan Hunt, Spider-Man, and the Barbenheimer juggernaut. But if anyone can beat those odds, it&#8217;s her, right?<\/p>\n<h2>Wonka &#8212; Snub!<\/h2>\n<p><iframe class=\"lazyload\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WONKA | Official Trailer\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/otNh9bTjXWg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We swear the Musical\/Comedy category gets less musical every year.\u00a0<em>Wonka<\/em> is an honest-to-goodness, full-on, unapologetic musical getting RAVE reviews&#8230; and no love from the Globes at all? In fact, you could say this snub is for musicals in general as NONE got nominated! Yes, really!<\/p>\n<p>But of course not, right, you have to have room for <em>Air<\/em>&#8230; the movie about how\u00a0<strong>Nike<\/strong> made that shoe.<\/p>\n<h2>Billie Eilish &#8211; Surprise!<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/perezhilton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Billie-Eilish-Golden-Globe-nomination.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>Billie Eilish<\/strong> getting nominated for Best Song is no surprise &#8212; she&#8217;s been here before! And at the <strong>Grammys<\/strong> and the <strong>Oscars<\/strong>&#8230; Plus,\u00a0<em>What Was I Made For<\/em> is a beautiful track!<\/p>\n<p>But we&#8217;re talking about something else. Billie got nominated for ACTING! Did y&#8217;all even know she was on a TV show?? Yes, following in her mom&#8217;s footsteps, the pop star tried her hand at acting in an episode of the single season horror series <em>Swarm<\/em>. Billie played a really scary character inspired by the\u00a0<strong>NXIVM<\/strong> sex cult, and apparently the one-off appearance was buzzy enough to get her a nod, along with co-star\u00a0<strong>Chloe Bailey<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<h2>Nick Offerman &#8211; Snub!<\/h2>\n<p><iframe class=\"lazyload\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Last of Us | Inside the Episode - 3 | Max\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IBnNiDHpE80?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is by far the biggest snub of the year in our opinion.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Last of Us<\/em> is nominated for Best Drama, Best Actor, and Best Actress, which is great. But the most critically acclaimed episode centered on neither\u00a0<strong>Pedro Pascal<\/strong> nor\u00a0<strong>Bella Ramsey<\/strong>, but on side characters Bill and Frank. The unexpected, heartbreaking love story was a bold declaration about what kind of adaptation and what kind of show this could be &#8212; and instantly became one of the most beloved TV episodes OF ALL TIME.<\/p>\n<p>While\u00a0<strong>Murray Bartlett<\/strong> was fantastic as usual, <strong>Nick Offerman<\/strong> was nothing short of transformational. We cannot believe his achievement isn&#8217;t being honored with at least a nomination &#8212; we thought he would be the favorite to WIN Supporting Actor this year!<\/p>\n<h2>Carla Gugino &#8211; Surprise!<\/h2>\n<p><iframe class=\"lazyload\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Fall of the House of Usher | Official Trailer | Netflix\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yvuAWVzP6wI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After every other <strong>Mike Flanagan<\/strong>\u00a0miniseries on\u00a0<strong>Netflix<\/strong> was snubbed, despite <em>The Haunting of Hill House<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Midnight Mass<\/em> having some of the best acting we&#8217;ve ever seen on TV, we figured the horror was just going to scare off the awards shows again this year.<\/p>\n<p>But we were wrong!\u00a0<em>The Fall of the House of Usher<\/em> finally broke through!\u00a0<strong>Carla Gugino<\/strong>&#8216;s showy performance as the scariest and somehow kindest monster &#8212; who throughout the show&#8217;s eight-episode run took at least that many forms &#8212; actually got the nod!
