Just days after Katie Price said she’d rather go to prison than attend her bankruptcy hearing next month, OK! can reveal her family are terrified of what’s to come.
A source disclosed this week, "Katie isn’t comprehending the severity of what’s coming – or how long she could actually be jailed for.
"Her mum, Amy, has warned her that she should be eating humble pie to avoid jail, not serving it.
"She’s also warned Katie about the danger of a massive public backlash if she treats jail like a game, but she isn’t getting through to her. Katie thinks people will be behind her.
"Katie’s adamant that a stint in prison will relaunch her career. She believes it’ll be her route to book deals, behind bars-style documentaries, television interviews.”
Speaking on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breaker podcast last week, Katie, 45, told listeners, "I’ve been to court more times than I’ve had hot dinners lately. I’m not scared of court any more.”
Katie is set to be questioned about her £3.2 million debts, and confessed, "I have said, ‘Can’t you just put me in prison just to cover it all? Just to be done with it’. I’m fed up with the reminders and why I’m in court.
"I genuinely don’t care if I go to prison because it’s done then. If they keep threatening me, just do it."
She described a prison sentence as a "win-win" in regards to the future rewards she sees herself reaping.
"I love all the prison stuff and I can experience what it’s like in there," she told listeners. "I could do a story when I come out of ‘me in prison’, and it’s a win-win situation for me, isn’t it?
"It wouldn’t affect my job. I wouldn’t be in there long."
Our source added, "She thinks prison will be like a cushy holiday, and she’s even asked about on-site hair salons and nail bars.
"She joked recently about having her hair braided like she had in the I’m A Celebrity jungle so it’s easier to maintain if she’s behind bars."
Katie, who lives in a £2 million-plus West Sussex mansion, has five children – Harvey, 21, from her relationship with ex-footballer Dwight York, Junior, 18, and Princess, 16, with former husband Peter Andre, and Bunny, nine, and 10-year-old Jett, with her third husband, Kieran Hayler.
She was declared bankrupt in 2019, despite at one point having been worth £45 million.
The years that followed, however, have seen her splash her remaining cash on a £10,000 dressage horse, exotic holidays to Asia, and many cosmetic surgeries.
In July, Katie, who has had several run-ins with the law since 2003, failed to attend an insolvency hearing that would outline ways she might repay her debt.
Our source adds a worried Amy, 71, has warned her daughter, who has already narrowly avoided prison for drink-driving and breaching a restraining order, to take the proceedings seriously.
"She thinks Katie is being delusional about coming out of a bankruptcy sentence with more money than she went in with," they say.
Katie is apparently viewing her potential prison term as another chapter in her "fairy-tale romance" with on-off partner Carl Woods, 34.
"She believes Carl will wait for her on the outside," the source reveals. "She thinks people will buy into their ‘forbidden’ behind bars love story."
They have had a tumultuous relationship since getting together in 2020, with former Love Islander Carl proposing in 2021 after 10 months of dating.
Marriage would make him her fourth husband, but they’ve called the wedding off in the past.
Defending her relationship, Katie has told her Instagram followers that her previous marriages "were rehearsals" and Carl "is the real person I will spend my life with".
But our source says she is considering a "behind bars ceremony" to keep followers invested in their story.
"If that’s not an option then there’s even talk about her and Carl getting married before she’s jailed, so people will root for her more. It’s all about headlines for Katie."
We can barely keep up with Pricey anymore.
